It's hard to keep this page updated because
Samuel is only 27 months old, but he says everything now.
We'll try to convey what he's like.

He has a memory like an elephant so he rarely forgets anything.
He amazes us every day with the things he says and does.

We have 3 sections:

Words from 3 to 14 months

Words around 21 months

Words around 27 months

Now, at only 27 months (Nov. 2004) Samuel talkes like he is a four-year-old. He can't pronounce everything perfectly but he knows how to say anything he needs to. He knows all or some of the words to many songs (Christian and Country) and he also understands complex concepts. He uses "please" and "thank you" most of the time. We never really taught him the words "can I," instead we taught him "may I" -- so that comes naturally to him and it's so cute.
He's also good at saying "bless you" if people sneeze. haha
He is curently ino roll playing. The hot charaters now are from "The Koala Brothers."
So he plays "Buster", Mommy is brother "Frank," Daddy is the turtle "George,"
and Maggie is the little Kangaroo "Josie." We sing the song all day and "help people"
And sometimes he's go most the day without calling me Mommy... it's just "Hey Frank!"
That's sort of embarrasing in public.
He also likes to sit on his hamper and pretend he is a "fireman" driving a "big red fire truck." Skipper is his "fire dog" and they often put out "small fires." He sounds his alarm noise, then jumps up to stand near the dresser where he quickly puts out any fire with is finger and thumb
gun. He then jumps from the hamper to his bed then somehow slides down his TINY
bedpost which is his "fireman pole." He also likes to slide the hamper back and forth
like it's his "office door" and he pretends that he works at the Bill of Rights Insitute
like Daddy. Then he pretends to type "e-mails" to mommy that say, "Dear Mommy, we love you sooooo much!" Sometimes he comes to give me a kiss and to grab his "cell phone, wallet,
and keys."
He often moves his little stool to the light switch by his door and says he is "a lighthouse keeper." One day he told me that I was a "big boat" and Maggie that she was a "little boat." Then it got too "foggy" so he had to blow his "fog horn" so that us boats could find our way to the Island.
Sometimes he picks up a toy and uses it for a microphone. Then he walks back and forth and sings various songs or bits of songs. We'll post video later. He also started to pretend that he's singing into a microphone at church when we sing hymns that he can catch onto or that he knows.
He also has a few books memorized so he pretends to read them.

HE IS JUST HILARIOUS!

Things he was saying at 21 months -
" Hey, Cowboy!"
and "How you doin' today? Fine, Tank you!",
"Have a good nap? Good!"
,"Who's that?" and "Mommy did it!" or "Daddy did it!"
He also likes to talk about "workers"...people who do work.
He even amazes with his knowledge and use of words like: "forward, backward, bottom, very
hot, don't touch, and never ever."
He also likes to tell his toys "Sorry," "It's okay,"
and "Don't worry." He sometimes pretends like they are crying so that he can console them.
He has even started make-believe role playing. Sometimes he likes us to call him either:
"cowboy, pirate, pilot, Thomas [the train]" or "Bob [the builder]"
He is now a master at saying "Amen" after grace and sometimes after prayers in church.
His Daddy is teaching him at night to say the "Lord's Prayer" -- his favorite section
is "Daily Bread," because he loves BREAD!
Some of his biggest words are: "Vitamin," and "Accident." He also likes to talk
about the garden. He names the vegetables and talks about the "Mulch!"
(Unfortunately he's been picking some of the strawberries before we can get to them.)
He knows that when he's in the "garden" he needs to watch out for: "Ants, piders,"
and "yedo jackets [yellow jackets/wasps]."

He can also name by face or photo a lot of our friends and family.
He talks nonstop about Bob the Builder and his "Team" and knows
all of their names...and several of the names from "Thomas the Train"
And we don't even have cable TV! He also pretends he's a horse and lets Mommy
put Maggie on his back while he crawls around the room!!! IT's FUNNY!
He also loves "Fire trucks," "Ambance [Ambulance]," and "Peace [Police] cars"
a lot of those go by his bedroom window. He even knows that "Paramenics" drive the
ambulances. As of May 2, 04, he is 21 months old.

Look Who's Talking.....A Lot!

This is a list of words I can say that my parents understand. This list includes words
I've been saying since I was only 3 months (Dah dah, Hey, and Hi) and some new ones
I just picked up recently. Remember, I was 10 pounds 22 and a half inches at birth so I was like a three month old when I came out of the womb. I'm currently 14 months old or more...depends on when my Mommy or Daddy updates this! (I'll try to stay on them about keeping it current.)
I understand a lot more words than I can say....but I only included a few of the more
frequent phrases at the bottom of this list. An entire list would be too long and the folks
would never be able to keep it updated.

Dah, dah or Daaaaaaday!
This is what I call my dad. I love him sooooo much. I can't wait to see him when he gets home
at night. Mom and I wait outside on the steps for him or I watch for him through my bedroom
window. (We have a colonial-style house and the windows in my little room are just my height!)
If I'm in my room when he comes home, I knock on the window as hard as I can. He always sees
me and we laugh, wave, and blow kisses at each other. Then I race to the top of the stairs
where he grabs me. It's cool. He's fun. We like to play a game where he says " Baaybeee!" and
I reply with big Daaaadaaaaaaaay!

Baaybeeee
That's what I am. I sometimes say it to get my Daddy to start playing that game mentioned above.

Mama or Mommeee
This is what I call my Mommy. I actually don't say it often because she usually knows what I'm
thinking before I need to call her.

Hey, Hi, and Ello
This is what I say to greet people. I usually say it when I wave, but sometimes I just say
"Hey" when I see pretty girls. They love it when I wave at them and bat my big blue eyes and
flash my eight front teeth. My Mommy says I'm a big flirt, whatever that means.

Daaawg
This is what I call those neat four-legged little critters that always pant on me when I see them
up close I also know what a daaawg says: "haaauuuf, haaaaufff, haaauuufff." I like to do this
with my tongue hanging out just like they do. Everytime I see a daaawg I make sure to alert
my parents.

Got
This is who my Mommy and Daddy ask to bless our food. We tell Him thanks for every meal.
I've never met Got, but I hope to some day. I can tell He must be someone really really special.
Mommy and Daddy say He loves me and I love Him too.

Aaaaminn
This is what we say after my daddy thanks Got and asks Him to bless our food. I just figured out
Aaaminn is the same thing my Mommy and Daddy say after we say my prayers before bed.

Uuckeeee
This is a word my Mommy and Daddy sometimes wish I didn't know. I learned it because whenever
I would pick up something off the floor that wasn't good my Mommy would say "Yucky, give that
to Mama." and she would make a funny face. Now if they put something on my dinner tray and
I don't like the taste of it I say "Uuckeeeee" and hand it back to my Mommy or Daddy, whoever is
the closest. But then there are times when they do appreciate that I know this word when I pick
up something I think might be bad and say Uuuckeee and give it to them without prompting.

Tank-Koo
This is what I say when someone gives me something. I don't always remember to say it but when
I do it makes the folks clap wildly. Sort of a neat trick I've taught them. I think I'll probably start
saying it more often. The other day when I told a waitress "tank koo" when she reminded my
Mommy not to forget my Cheerios cup on the table, she laughted got the biggest kick out of it.
I was serious. Those Cheerios are valuable.

Gocks
These are the things Mommy puts on my feet before we put my shoes on.

Gog
This is that red, white, and blue thing Daddy and I hang in front of our house on sunny days. (flag)

Dink
This is what I say I want when I'm thirsty.

Vinnaminns
My Mommy feeds me some vinnaminns every morning just before we finish breakfast. She says
it will help me grow up big and strong.

Hommmme
This is my favorite place. Mommy and Daddy always say "We're Home" when we pull in the drive way.

Punkin
There are big round orange things that sit on the ground. My Daddy and Mommy took me punkin
shopping in October. I loved running among all of them. We took some really cool pictures that
Mommy will post soon. Read my GREAT PUMPKIN STORY!

Duck or Guck (depends on my mood)
I know they are the animals that go "quack, quack"

Buwwwd
These are those things that fly and chirp all the time outside. They sound neat.

Buzzzz
This is what a Bee says. I also know how to do my hands and fly like one.

Thuzzzzzzzzzz
This is similar to Buzz but I have to do my tongue differently. It's what
"Jay Jay the Jet Plane" and other airplanes say. They sort of fly like bees.

Truck
I love trucks. I like to watch them go by my bedroom window.

Caw
These are like trucks but smaller. They drive on the road too.

Bbbbbmmmmbmmmmbbbbbbm
This is what trucks and caws say. I can also make my toy trucks and caws say this
when I play with them. It's funny because mom can't do that noise very well. Only
Daddy and I can. I think it's a boy thing. And the neat thing about this word is that
my parents didn't tell me that's what trucks and caws do I just started making that
noise one day while playing with my big truck.

Mooooooo Mooooo
This is what a cow says.

Mmmooooonnnnn
I lovvvvvvvvvve looking at the moon. Especially when it's full. It's so neat. I also point
out all the moons I see in my books and in pictures.

JaaayJay
He's currently my favorite cartoon character. I can sing the chorus when my Mommy
sings the theme song.

Bik Gake
That's actually "Big Jake," and he is an airplane and JayJay's friend. I have a stuffed
Big Jake airplane that my dad gave to me. He has real propellers and I love him soooooooo
much. I carry him all over the house. I also like my Snuffy book that has a moving propeller
on the front of it. I'm good at flicking it to make it spin. I think I'll be an astronaunt (because
I love the moon so much) or a pilot when I grow up. We'll see. Check out my favorite websites
section
and you can visit Tarrytown!

Dawwden
This is what I call Calliou, that other cartoon friend of mine. I can sing his theme song too.
Check out my song section.

No-mmmm
This is what you call those little guys with pointy red caps and white beards. We have a
couple of them in our sunroom. (Gnome)

Bodeee and Paa
This is what I call our two cats Bodi and Patches. I know which one is which too! I used to
call Bodi "BoBo" but now I can say his whole name. Bodi and Patches LOVE to come into my
room and watch me play. Bodi is really nice and lets me grab his tail and love on him. He's
a pretty mellow cat -- much like a good dog.

MoMo
This is what I call Nemo, my little fish friend. Check out my Movie Review section.

Bob
This is the tomato from Veggie Tales....it's also that little guy that builds things.

Wawwy
This is the cucumber from Veggie Tales (Larry)

Elwwo
This is the funny red guy from Seaseme Street (Elmo)

Bik Buuuwd
That big yellow bird on Seaseme Street

Bla-aaaaaaaaaaah!
This is what I say to scare my Mommy when we are chasing each other around
or when I come into the kitchen and she's cooking. I don't know if it scares her
much, but it makes her laugh. She loves to shock me with a good "blaaaaah" when
I run into the bathroom to brush my teeth.

Big words or phrases I've recently said once or twice.....
Hi Dawg
Tank koo God -- I recently said this to try to get to the food faster, but Mommy just laughed
Baw-dowed wadda (bottled water)
Cool bus (school bus)
Naanan (Aidan)
Yada yada yo....just a funny phrase my folks say to make me (and them) laugh
Yabba Dabba Do.....another funny phrase to make me repeat
Oow Ya Doooowin......as in How ya doin'? My Mommy and Daddy always ask me that.
Ie-Ie-Ie-o.....as in what Old MacDonald does, but backwards.... (EIEIO)

SIGN LANGUAGE
The only thing I know how to say in sign language right now is "MORE."
I usually do it in connection with food or toys. I use it quite often when referring
to Cheerios. And, well, I guess I know how to say "Hi" and "Bye" in sign language too...
that is...if waving counts.

ANIMAL SOUNDS
The other day in the grocery story I totally amazed the check-out lady and another customer
when I rattled off a lot of the animal sounds that I can do when Mommy asks. They couldn't
believe I was only 14 months old! So, for your amusement (and my historical record) we
are listing them below. (Note, some are a repeat from above.) Mommy is going to tape me
with the amcorder so maybe we can post the video too.

1) Mooooooo moooooo -- My first and one of my favorites -- COW

12) Rrrrowl -- This can be either one of two animals -- LION or TIGER
13) Bbbbrrrrreeeaaa -- I actually don't know how to spell the sound, but this is an -- ELEPHANT

14) _____ -- Not a sound, but something I do with my lips...people can't believe it -- FISH
15) Ribba Ribbal -- This guy hops -- FROG
16) Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrowl -- I've had "bad beans" (dreams) about this one -- BEAR
