Every week Daddy and Mommy like to go on these things called "dates" -- they usually occur on "Date Night." I'm not sure what it means, or if it has to do with the phases of the moon or something, but I do know that it usually entails going out to dinner and then either a nice drive along the Potomac and some of the pretty neighborhoods, renting a video (I don't know why they don't just watch mine), or going to this place that has GIANT videos on the screen -- it's called the Movie Theatre. You also get sodas and popcorn there. Daddy is always squeezing on Mommy, but during Date Night he does it even more so. I can't wait until I marry a girl like Mommy some day. I know I'm going to be "all romatical" like Daddy.

THE EMPORER'S CLUB:

I saw my first movie when I was just three months old -- The Emporer's Club. The folks thought it'd be a quiet, mellow movie that I would sleep through. They forgot about the LOUD movie previews in the beginning -- one had this big guy named Arnold Schwarrrzenhaaager. (Not sure how you spell it.) Anyhoo, the previews were sooooooooo loud that I had to squeeze on Mommy really hard. I didn't cry, I was too amazed at the big screen, but I was glad when the real movie started. I then sat on Daddy's lap for about a half hour and watched the show. My head was moving back and forth (Mommy said like a Tennis game) as I watched. Then Daddy handed me over to Mommy and I quickly snuggled in and fell asleep. (She's really soft.) When we left the Theatre people were shocked to see me and said they couldn't believe there was a baby in there. I didn't see one either. Oh......I almost forgot to give my review. It was a pretty good movie (according to Mommy and Daddy) They said Granddad Rich would like it because of the sculling in the beginning. Again, remind you, I only saw the first half hour so I'd go by what they say. That's why I gave it four RUBBER DUCKIES.

This is just a scene from the movie.
I think I saw this part.

Whoops....a little sidebar note from Mommy. She said the first movie I did but didn't see (I'm sort of confused) was "Black Hawk Down." I was still in the womb then, but all that loud noise made me kick and squirm as I was trying to hide behind Mommy's kidneys. She said it was the first time she ever felt me move. That summer I also saw "Star Wars." I moved a lot when Anikan and Obi were fighting the bad guys.

LORD OF THE RINGS: The Two Towers
The second movie I ever did see (with my own eyes) was "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." This movie was three hours long, but I made it through the whole thing and only fell asleep a couple of times. I did get a little antsy and scared during the big war so Mommy got up and held me on the "sidelines." I could still see so that was cool. I highly recommend this show if you are into Hobbits. The folks even gave me a knickname after the show -- Samwise Gamgies -- that's Bilbo's friend and companion. He was a very loyal and nice fellow. I liked him. Gollum was pretty scary, but he helped them in their journey. My Daddy is currently reading "The Chronicles of Narinia" to me and Mommy, but I hope he'll read "The Hobbit" to us soon. The images in "The Lord of the Rings" were amazing. I didn't know it, but Mommy told me they were just computer graphics and animation. I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE REAL THING! It was amazing. A must see. So I give this movie five RUBBER DUCKIES!!!

This is Samwise Gamgies, as I
mentioned in my review. The folks call
me Samwise, but I don't look a THING
like him. Maybe it's cuz I'm smart.

Looks like my "editor" agreed with that one. No outside comments from the folks, except Daddy questioned how I spelled Samwise Gamgies. He says we'll have to look it up. Anyhoo...on with my reviews.

FINDING NEMO
I'm excited to do this one because I wanted to put it in ORANGE like little Nemo! I saw this film the first day it was released... I was just 10 months old. This was a fun movie, but the beginning was VERY sad. (Don't read this next part if you haven't seen it...) Nemo's mom and guppie brothers and sisters got killed. Mommy even cried. I wasn't sure what happened, but I think I was sad too. (If you skipped that last part, start reading here...) After that it's just Nemo and his Daddy, who is very protective. Nemo ends up trying to defy (that's a big word) his Daddy's orders and he ends up getting caught by some fisherman and then he gets stuck in a dentist's fish tank. There he meets some good fish friends. In the meantime his Daddy is searching the whole ocean looking for him. He hooks up with a dipsy fish named Dory and together they have some fun and scary times while searching for Nemo. I can't tell you the ending, but I can tell you that it's a must see for any kid. Daddy and I love to watch the "trailor" for the video on the Finding Nemo website -- check it out. It's listed on my FAVORITE VIDEOS webpage. Daddy loves to say "Ello, I'mmmmm Bruce!"

This one is easy to rate...I give it five RUBBER DUCKIES! I'd give it more, but Mommy says I need to stick to my original system so that I won't confuse you.

This is "Bruce" the shark along with
Nemo's dad and Dory.

This is "Crush" the turle. He was funny.

A few movie reviews from Maggie when she was a baby...

The first movie I ever saw in the theatre was "Lord of the Rings Two Towers." I was only a few months old but Mommy said I kept knocking her hands away from my eyes whenever she tried to filter some of the images. The second film I saw in the theatre was "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." My brother does the movie reviews so I'll let him tell you about that one. I fell asleep near the end of it. The third movie I ever saw in the theatre was Shrek II. I thought that was pretty funny and I like all the pretty colors. And...the fourth movie I ever saw was Madagascar. The folks are cool because they gave us hotdogs, popcorn, and jelly beans while we watched the show. I was a good dinner and movie. My favorite character was the big lion. Mommy love the penguins.

Since then, Maggie has also seen on the big screen: March of the Penguins, Curious George, Over the Hedge, Cars, and some others Mommy can't think of right now.....
